Thursday Tips and Tricks: Logging off with Remote Desktop

Logging off from Remote Desktop (Thinstuff)

Logging off from Remote Desktop is often an overlooked step. It is important to completely log off, as it helps keep the machine running better and allows IT to do back up and other maintenance.

When a user is finished are done on Remote Desktop, the user should log off rather than just disconnect. Clicking the “X” in the Remote Desktop tool bar is called disconnecting and just leaves your session active but not logged off. To completely log off, go to the start menu, select shut down and then Log Off.
